Community Garden plots opening up in SE Portland - February 9, 2011

Portland Parks & Recreation’s Community Gardens program is encouraging residents in east Portland, particularly in the Powellhurst-Gilbert, Parkrose and Madison South neighborhoods, to sign up for a community garden plot this year.

Being part of a community garden is an exciting, affordable way to meet your neighbors, spend time in the outdoors, and bring home delicious fresh vegetables!

Water is provided, and gardeners work the soil using organic gardening methods.

This spring, plots will become available in three east Portland neighborhood gardens:

  • Gilbert Community Garden at SE 130th Avenue and Boise
  • Senns Community Garden at NE 113th Avenue and Prescott
  • Madison Community Garden at Madison High School located at 2735 NE 82nd Avenue

"Popular community garden program expects some open plots soon in Northeast and Southeast Portland"
