The Portland Parks Board welcomed two new members, Jeff Tryens and Andy Nelson, to its already strong roster yesterday.

Jeff Tryens, a previous Board member, is a Management Consultant with Measures Matter. He brings nearly 20 years of experience helping public and private agencies improve performance. He has worked with a variety of public sector organizations, locally and abroad, including consulting with the City on the Portland Plan. He previously served as Executive Director of the Oregon Progress Board, an independent board created by our state legislature to monitor the implementation of Oregon's 20-year strategic vision, Oregon Shines.

Andy Nelson is Executive Director of Hands on Greater Portland, which connects Portland-area volunteers - working adults, students, parents, elders - with projects that make a meaningful difference in our community. He has broad experience with local non-profits and City boards. He currently serves on the Camp Fire USA Board of Directors and is an adviser to the City's Human Rights Commission.

The Parks Board works to make sure that the vision and recommendations of the Parks 2020 Vision are at the forefront of discussions about park and recreation issues across the city, and advocates at the regional level for high-quality planning and design for our parks, open spaces, and recreation facilities.
