ParkScan - December 31, 2010

Portland's ParkScanPortland Parks & Recreation is responsible for more than 200 parks across the city. We have an amazing team of crews working to maintain them, but PP&R staff can't be everywhere all the time.

We know that as the most frequent visitors to our parks, you are our eyes and ears on the ground and the most knowledgeable about park needs.

So how can you share your concerns directly with the park maintenance supervisor who needs to hear them?

With ParkScan, a tool we've been using since the Fall of 2008, you become an active partner in the stewardship of our parks.

ParkScan is an interactive website - and iPhone app - that lets you send messages about conditions you observe directly to a parks maintenance supervisor. When the supervisor responds, we'll let you know via email.

ParkScan also lets you see what else has been reported about your neighborhood park and compiles yearly reports that show trends about observations, help you understand how we maintain your parks, and help PP&R prioritize areas for improvement.

Staff are happy to visit with your Neighborhood Association, Friends group, Business Association, school, or other group to walk you through how ParkScan works. Responding to maintenance needs more quickly helps us keep our recreation areas and green spaces healthy for fun and play - we'd love to have you as a partner in this effort!
