"The arts belong to everyone" - August 26, 2010

Work for ArtWork for Art, a program of the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC), raises money for more than 80 arts and culture organizations each year. These organizations - all based in Multnomah, Clackamas, or Washington County - have gone through a competitive application process with RACC to be included in the pool.

The Work for Art 2010-11 Campaign officially kicks off this week with the goal of raising $680,000 for our regional arts and culture community. Writes Campaign Chair Greg Ness in today's Oregonian, "we know there are many people anxious to pitch in, and there's no better time than now, when your generosity will be doubled."

The City of Portland and Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington Counties have pooled their resources in a Matching Challenge Fund, which means that every dollar donated is doubled!

"Art has a near limitless potential to change the way we look at the world and to strengthen our communities," Ness writes. As a member of the Oregon Cultural Trust Board, Nick is proud to support our arts and culture community, both locally and at the state level. We encourage you to help make this a record year for Work for Art!

Many workplaces have charitable campaigns that benefit Work for Art, and you can also give directly through their website. For more information, visit workforart.org, check out this fact sheet, or call Work for Art Manager Kathryn Jackson at (503) 823-5424.
