Bridge Pedal this Sunday - August 6, 2010

Join Nick this Sunday as he leads the 2010 Providence Bridge Pedal Kids Pedal. The 2-mile ride begins at 10:00 at the West end of the Morrison Bridge and crosses the Hawthorne and Steel bridges before the finish line at SW Naito and Ash Street. While the ride is free, registration is required, and all parents must be accompanied by children!

The Bridge Pedal offers several rides catering to a wide variety of riders. Test yourself with the 10-bridge, 36-mile route, enjoy the 7-bridge, 23-mile ride, or relax with the 5-bridge, 11.5-mile option. There's also 6-mile Stride for walkers.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Providence Bridge Pedal, which offers the only chance each year to enjoy the Willamette bridges from the seat of a bicycle and without car traffic.

Saturday, Providence will present a Bridge Pedal Health and Wellness Expo at NE Holladay and 7th Avenue from 9:00 to 4:00. Gather healthy living tips, enter drawings, check out the latest in bike gear, and learn more about local community groups and bike organizations. You'll also have the opportunity to join a yoga class from Pureheart Yoga, do some square dancing at 10:30, see a demonstration on bike tire changing and maintenance from the Bike Gallery, and take part in a noon ice cream celebration!

We'll see you there!
