Help protect and preserve our natural areas - July 9, 2010

Last year Portland ranked #2 in volunteering nationwide - all together, we gave $1.6 billion worth of our time.

This spirit of service is especially important to Portland Parks & Recreation - 25% of Parks labor is done by volunteers, and the bureau estimates that it benefits from $5 million worth of volunteer time and effort each year.

Tomorrow, Parks is hosting two work parties to restore important natural areas in South and Southeast Portland. At Ross Island beginning at 8:30, and at Powell Butte Nature Park beginning at 9:00, you're invited to pull ivy, remove invasive species, and help us protect these beautiful parks properties.

Registration is required for the Ross Island event - call (503) 823-7016 or email Marissa Dorais at marissa.dorais@portlandoregon.gov to sign up.
