POL Government Elected Officials Commissioner Nick Fish
RAC in the News - March 24, 2010

Dear Friends,

Good news!

Our hard work in Portland is getting national recognition. Tuesday’s New York Times “Square Feet” column features a story about the Resource Access Center under construction in downtown Portland.

Reporter Linda Baker writes that the Resource Access Center is “the focal point of a 10-year plan to end homelessness

here. The eight story, 106,000-square-foot center, which will open next year, is expected to help catalyze development in the north end of Old Town/Chinatown, a neglected area that supporters say is poised for significant growth.”

Congratulations to the team whose hard work and perseverance made this day possible – the Housing Authority of Portland; Multnomah County; Transition Projects, Inc.; Holst Architecture; Walsh Construction; my colleagues on the City Council, at the Portland Housing Bureau, and at the Portland Development Commission; and all of our community partners.

Sincerely,

Nick
