Today's Tribune, the last of 2009, recognizes "Shelter from the storm" as the number 1 victory of 2009. Congratulations to the Portland Housing Bureau, especially Sally Erickson, Ryan Deibert, and Jennifer Chang; our County partners; the faith community; our many dedicated non-profit partners, including the Red Cross, Salvation Army, TPI, Human Solutions, and JOIN; the folks at the Portland Fire & Rescue, the Portland Office of Emergency Management, and the many City workers and volunteers who were part of last year's "heroic efforts" to help our homeless during the winter snowstorms.
