Update
Environmental Services is continuing construction activities for the East Side Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Tunnel Project, also known as the East Side Big Pipe. This is the largest of Portland’s projects to control CSOs to the Willamette River. The tunnel will be 22-feet in diameter, more than 100 feet deep and six miles long. In addition, shallower pipelines are being installed to connect the existing sewer outfalls to the tunnel.
Construction at N River and Randolph streets continues and is currently focused on the completion of the microtunnel pipeline to the River Street Shaft.

To best complete the work while in difficult soils the City Noise Office has granted a variance for extended work hours.
