Steve Weiss has lived in Southeast Portland for the last 19 years. He is retired and currently board president of the Oregon State Council for Retired Citizens, board president of Independent Living Resources and board president of the Community Alliance of Tenants. He is also chair of the Department of County Human Services Citizen Budget Advisory Committee, chair of the Housing Authority of Portland’s 504 Disability Advisory Board, vice-chair of the Elders in Action Commission and chair of its Senior Hunger and Poverty Workgroup, a board member of United Seniors of Oregon, a member of the Commission on Children, Families and Community’s Poverty Action Council, a member of Commissioner Nick Fish’s Section 8 Task Force, a member of the Multnomah Healthy Aging Coalition, and serves on Jobs with Justice’s Healthcare Committee.  Steve was nominated to the Charter Commission by Commissioner Fish.
