Jan Campbell

Jan Campbell grew up with a disability and was denied the opportunity to teach because of this, before laws were enacted to protect persons with disabilities.  Since then she has devoted her life to advocating for civil and human rights.  In 2004 she retired, after 23 yrs. from the City of Portland, as the Disability Project Coordinator for the City of Portland and Multnomah County. Presently, she works for Aging and Disability Services and Oregon Health Sciences University.   She has chaired and served on numerous Commissions, Boards and Committees, both locally and at the State Level.  Currently she is Chair of the Committee on Accessible Transportation for Tri-Met and the Special Transportation Funds Advisory Committee, Vice-President of Disability Rights Oregon, member of the Executive Committee on the Portland Commission on Disabilities and the Oregon Disabilities Commission,  and member of the Portland Habilitation Center Board, Connecting Communities Coalition and the POLST Advisory Committee.  Jan was nominated to the Charter Commission by Commissioner Leonard.
