| Description |
The City of Portland Environmental Services (BES) is once again offering FREE Ecoroof Seminars for Portland residents and professionals. The Ecoroof Seminars are two day-long technical workshops on ecoroof structure, design, construction, and permitting. The Seminars will takes place on November 3-4, 2009, from 9:00am - 4:30pm, in the Board Room of the Multnomah County Building, 501 SE Hawthorne. For a map to the location, click here.
What's an ecoroof?
Ecoroofs are living, breathing, vegetated roof systems that provide a sustainable alternative to conventional roofing. Ecoroofs use thin, light weight soils, drought tolerant plants and require minimal irrigation and maintenance. They are part of a growing worldwide effort to promote sustainable development and improve watershed health and air quality. For more information about ecoroofs, visit www.portlandonline.com/ecoroof.
Who should attend the Seminars?
Anyone can attend the Ecoroof Seminars. The material covered, however, is ideal for:
- Practicing or aspiring professionals in the building development, design, construction, operations and maintenance fields interested in learning the fundamental and technical aspects of ecoroofs
- Property owners interested in installing an ecoroof and learning about incentives available through BES
- Community or trade organizations interested in expanding their involvement to include the ecoroof industry
- Real estate personnel wanting to expand their technical understanding of ecoroofs
- Teachers and students of sustainable development
Since space is limited, we're encouraging only new attendees to participate. All seminar participants can receive certificates of completion and continuing education
credits when applicable. Please indicate your interest in this opportunity when you register.
