Urban Growth Bounty 2009

Thanks for your overwhelming support of the 2009 Urban Growth Bounty series. All the classes have been held, but we'll be back at the end of November with a new list of offerings for 2010.

 

Want to grow abundant fruit and vegetables, raise chickens, keep bees, make cheese and preserve food? Urban Growth Bounty classes, taught by Portland experts, will provide the tools to make 2009 a more sustainable, healthier year for you and your budget.

Organic Vegetable Gardening

All you need to know to grow abundant organic food for year-round harvest.
Nine-class series, every third Wednesday from February through October, 7:00-9:00 p.m.

First-Time Beekeeping for the Organic City Garden
Glen Andresen (Master Gardener, Educator and Radio Host)
Beekeeper Glen Andresen provides the basics of backyard beekeeping using organic techniques. The class includes a one-hour field trip to one of Glen’s apiaries in Northeast Portland for a hands-on opportunity.

Tree, cane and bush fruit are easy to grow and don’t take up a lot of space. Glen shares his favorite fruits for city growing, along with pruning, planting, maintenance and harvesting techniques.
