In 2001, the City of Portland was one of the first municipalities in the nation to adopt a green building policy for its own facilities. The policy contained strategies and performance thresholds for all new and remodeled City-owned facilities.
In 2005, the policy was updated to incorporate higher LEED certification levels and additional requirements for ecoroofs, affordable housing and projects receiving public investment.
In 2009, City Council approved updates to the policy that clarify its application and reflect advancements in green building. Find the revised policies and status reports using the tool bar on the left.
