Construction, Remodeling and Demolition Waste

All building projects in Portland with a permit value of $50,000 or more (including construction and demolition phases) are required to separate and recycle certain materials from the job site.

 

A wood waste only drop boxThe general contractor is responsible for ensuring recycling at the job site, including recycling by sub-contractors, and for completing a Pre-Construction Recycling Plan Form.

You may separate materials into separate containers or your garbage and recycling company may provide a system where workers place materials in one or more containers for later separation.  

 

Contractors must keep these materials out of the landfill:

  • Rubble (concrete/asphalt)
  • Land Clearing Debris
  • Corrugated Cardboard
  • Metals>
  • Wood
