Construction, Remodeling and Demolition Waste

All building projects in Portland with a permit value of $50,000 or more (including construction and demolition phases) are required to separate and recycle certain materials from the job site.

The general contractor is responsible for ensuring recycling at the job site, including recycling by sub-contractors, and for completing a Pre-Construction Recycling Plan Form.

You may separate materials into separate containers or your garbage and recycling company may provide a system where workers place materials in one or more containers for later separation.  

Contractors must keep these materials out of the landfill:

• Rubble (concrete/asphalt)
• Land Clearing Debris
• Corrugated Cardboard
• Metals>
• Wood
