Sustainable City Government Partnership

In December of 2006, based on the recommendations from the "Bureau Innovation Project (BIP) #18 Team," City Council adopted Resolution #36468  formally creating the Sustainable City Government Partnership (Partnership).  

The goal of the Partnership is to foster a collaborative, Citywide effort to integrate sustainable practices and resource efficiency into municipal operations.  Based on employee and bureau-level innovation, the Partnership promotes the City’s sustainability goals and strengthens existing policies and efforts. 

The OSD Director and the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) in OMF and coordinate the Partnership. The Resolution directed bureau Directors to:

• Appoint a bureau Sustainability Liaison who has direct access to bureau management decision makers and has experience or skills in developing or implementing strategic plans, and
• Adopt, implement and update a bureau specific sustainability plan and progress report, and

• Contribute to an annual Citywide sustainability report on progress.

The resources below and to the left are designed to assist bureau Sustainability Liaisons meet the expectations outlined in Council's resolution.
