Master Recycler Program
Master Recyclers provide outreach on waste prevention and recycling to Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington county residents. More than 500 people have graduated from the program, volunteering more than 9,000 hours.
10-week courses are held three times a year. Graduates commit to providing a minimum number of volunteer hours to complete their certification.

Master Recyclers:
-Speak to local groups about waste reduction and recycling
-Create educational resources and displays
-Staff booths at local events including farmers' markets, compost bin distributions, hazardous household waste roundups, fun runs, and other local events
-Design and implement waste reduction plans at home and at work
-Stay current on solid waste trends through newsletters and follow-up events, and
-Have FUN while making a difference in the community
The Master Recycler Program is administered by the City of Portland Office of Sustainable Development in partnership with Metro, Clackamas County, Washington County, the Department of Environmental Quality and Recycling Advocates.
