Development Patterns

This subwatershed was originally logged and settled with small farms. Urban development followed and spread east from the river. The entire subwatershed except for Oaks Bottom is intensively developed. Some of the wetlands in the bottomland were filled in the 1960’s for a garbage dump. The Willamette shoreline south of the Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge was partially filled and developed for Oaks Amusement Park and residential development.

Data is available for most of the taxlots in this subwatershed and indicates that over half of the development occurred before 1945.
