Combined Sewer System

Most of this subwatershed is served by a combined sewer system. Portions of the system, generally east of the Highway 26 tunnel, were originally installed in the late 1800s and extended in 1889, 1891, 1894 and 1916. Major trunklines run along Highway 26 and SW 17th between Market and Burnside with diameters ranging from 3 to 9 feet. The system’s primary diversion structure is near NW 11th and Everett. CSOs are discharged to Outfall 11 just downstream from the Broadway Bridge.
