Managing Invasive Vegetation in Portland
Invasive plants are plant species that spread so aggressively that they can harm human health and the environment.
Diverse native plant communities provide food and shelter for fish and wildlife. Invasive plants spread aggressively and form dense stands that don't allow native plants to thrive.
The Portland City Council directed the development of an Invasive Plant Management strategy, which includes developing new policies and regulations, outreach and education about non-native vegetation, coordination between agencies and citizens, and assessment of current conditions.
