Past & Present Projects

The photos above show the transformation of one of the properties assisted by the Portland Brownfield Program.  A former battery recycling plant that was then left abandoned for years, this site was provided Environmental Site Assessments and technical assistance by the PBP.

The site is now occupied by the PortCity Development Center, a non-profit organization providing life skills training and employment opportunity to adults with developmental disabilities.  Through the hard work of its director, staff and partners, goods and services were donated and purchased to conduct remediation work, removing lead contaminated soils, materials and structural components.  This site represents the potential of brownfield redevelopment guided by a strong vision, partnership and dedication.
