Welcome to the Portland Brownfield Program
What do these places have in common?
All of these properties were once used in ways that caused contamination. For this reason, they were considered brownfields. A brownfield is a site where contamination – or the possibility of contamination – is preventing use or redevelopment.
There are many different kinds of brownfields: large industrial sites, but also small properties in every community that were once places like gas stations or dry cleaners.
The Portland Brownfield Program helps transform brownfields into vibrant working space for the City of Portland. We can provide technical and financial support to property owners, developers, and community members.
Look around this site to learn more about our services and some of the projects we are working on, and don't hesitate to contact us for more information.
