How to Request Public Records


Enforcement Program

The Enforcement Program maintains records for Housing, Nuisance, Zoning, Noise, Dangerous Buildings, Work without Permit, and Home Occupation Permits.

 

Complainant Confidentiality: Please note that per ORS 192.502(4), confidential submissions (complainant information) are exempt from disclosure under the Oregon Public Records Law. Complainant information shall be removed from all public records requests.

 

If you are interested in information concerning an active case, please contact the enforcement program at (503) 823-7891 or email codec@portlandoregon.gov.

There is a minimum records request fee of $15.00 per address for records that are requested. Please see the Records Request Fees and Process Timeline webpage for additional information about fees and process timelines.

Land Use Services Division

The Land Use Review Division maintains all records of land use review, pre-application conference, and public registry files. To request a Zoning Confirmation Letters go to: http://www.portlandonline.com/bds/index.cfm?c=45494&a=92199.

Resource Records

Resource Records section maintains copies of plans for issued building, site development, and zoning permits; permit inspection cards; sign permits, and Certificates of Occupancy.

 

If you are interested in active permits, please contact Document Services for permits currently under review at (503) 823-7310, or for permits under inspection at (503) 823-7304 for commercial and (503) 823-7388 for residential.

 

The following steps outline how to request records from Resource Records In Person or By Mail.

 

Step one: Ensure you have the correct property address. If you are unsure of the correct address, please use the City of Portland web-based Portlandmaps.com to find an exact address.

 

Step two: Required Forms. Complete the following Forms for each address records are being requested for:

Step four: Minimum Records Request Fee.

 

Minimum Records Request Fee. A minimum records request fee of $15 per address being requested is required at the time of requesting records. By Mail requests will not be processed without a minimum fee .
