In January of 2007, several Development Review Advisory Committee (DRAC) members asked DRAC to convene a subcommittee. This subcommittee was charged with examining reduction of the built environment's impact on global warming, and to advance the City's sustainability goals with the development community as an active partner. The DRAC Green Building Subcommittee convened twice monthly for 10 months. Participants included 6 DRAC members representing development, architecture, energy, environmental, and construction communities.
During the course of its effort, the DRAC Green Subcommittee set forth principles to guide its review, noted key findings, and identified and prioritized recommendations for action. The findings and recommendations of the subcommittee are embodied in the report Expanding Sustainable Development in Portland, Oregon.
