Service Level Update Document:

Facilities Permit Program Customers Visiting Document Services

Continued budgetary constraints have necessitated further staffing reduction within the Bureau of Development Services. In order to maintain the highest level of service possible with limited resources, temporary changes to the hours of operation and services available to customers, including those in the Facility Permits Program (FPP), visiting Permitting Services, located at 1900 SW 4th Avenue, 2nd Floor.

Effective June 1, 2010 until further notice, the following changes will be implemented:

  • Hours of operation will change to Tuesday thru Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • Mondays between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Permitting Services staff will be available for the release of permits that have been approved and their pre-issuance completed. Applicants will be contacted when permits reach this stage. The entrance door to Permitting Services will be locked on Mondays so please ring the door bell for assistance.
  • For all other FPP services please contact (503) 823-5996.

I am trying to get a construction permit from 2001 closed.  It was for water line repair/replacement.  The water line was repaired but the electrical grounding was not.  The plumbing contractor did not close the permit.  I have recently had the grounding completed and it was inspected by John Shelton,BDS inspector.  I have now called "Peter" at BDS and gave him Ref. #IVR 209 3356. He could find no record of the inspection and advised me to contact BDS,  I am just a little frustrated.  What does it take to get an approval there and get a 9 year old permit closed?

How do I look up a permit (land use or construction) by name?
Thank you.

Curt,

You can search by Address, Application Number or IVR Number by clicking on the Permit/Case Search button in the upper left-hand corner of our homepage: www.portlandoregon.gov/bds

Once on the case / permit search page, click on the Application Number search function tab above the data entry window. The default search function is by address.

Let me know if you have questions.

Thank you,

Ross Caron / Bureau of Development Services City of Portland, Oregon / (503) 823-4268 ross.caron@portlandoregon.gov / www.portlandonline.com/bds
