Sirs:
I may be only one person, but, I think I speak for the citizens of the City of Portland. The five (5) members of the city council should not have the absolute power to decide on any important issue, such as street renaming, when the people are split on the decision. It should be up to the majority of the people and should be put before them to vote on. There are a number of things to be considered that could be an alternative to renaming a street. ie: name a park, build a statue, there is a new bridge being built that could be named after Caesar Chevez and, many other good ideas that would not put a financial burden on anyone!
Sincerely,
Mildred I. Wright
