Parking and Loading

The on-site parking and loading standards for all development types are expressed in Chapter 33.266 of the Zoning Code, Parking and Loading. In addition, some plan districts and overlay zones may have supplemental or superceding standards for parking and loading.

Generally, the standards for parking are divided into two categories. First, there are standards that apply for houses, attached houses, and duplexes in Section 33.266.120. Second, there are standards for "all other uses" including commercial, industrial, multi-dwelling, and mixed-uses. These standards appear in Chapter 33.266.130. In addition to standards based on the use of a site, the parking and loading standards also regulate the following:

  • Minimum and maximum numbers of parking spaces;
  • Location of vehicle areas;
  • Long and short term bicycle parking;
  • Loading; and
  • Vehicles in residential zones.
