On a regular three-month cycle Electrical Inspector Donna Ainsworth participates in a presentation about the construction trades to a group of women at Portland Youth Builders.

Portland Youth Builders is a program that offers a holistic approach to youth development that incorporates high school education, job readiness training, community leadership and vocational training in either construction or computer technology.

BDS Inspector Donna Ainsworth helps support their decisions to enter into the trades and provides them with insight on what to expect.  She also provides them with some examples of common issues that arise when pursuing a career in the trades, her experiences as a commercial electrician and electrical inspector.

"By participating in this outreach, I can only hope that I can inspire some of these women to take advantage of the opportunity to create a life full of opportunity for their children and families as I have", says Donna.  On behalf of the bureau, we appreciate Donna's efforts to reach out to our youth.
