2008 USBLN National Career Fair - Printable Version - October 15, 2008 - 0 Comments

Bureau of Development Services attended the USBLN (US Business Leadership Network’s) Disability and Inclusion Career Fair on October 6 at the Downtown Marriott. USBLN website screenshot! The 2008 career fair was being held in conjunction with the USBLN’s 11th Annual Conference, “Expanding Inclusion: The Business Strategy” which is the preeminent national event for business, community leaders and BLN chapters that have an interest in hiring, retention and marketing to people with disabilities.

The USBLN career fair had good attendance.  It was useful to attend this year, because it was the first time this national job fair for persons with disabilities was in Portland. It is a national event with a chapter in Oregon (OBLN). We shared the booth with Parks, DEEP, Revenue and the Water Bureau. Helping to make the career fair a success was Carol Richard, Sylvia James, Karl Harn and Steele Miller.

It was an exciting way for BDS to connect to further into the community as the career fair was geared towards recruiting high school and college students with disabilities interested in obtaining employment.
