Latino/Latina American Heritage Celebration - Printable Version - September 12, 2008 - 1 Comments

Latino/Latina American Heritage Celebration This year for the first time BDS is partnering with the Water Bureau to join them in the Latino/Latina American Heritage Celebration (formerly the Hispanic Heritage Celebration).  The Water Bureau has for the last three years coordinated this event successfully with coordinator, Barbara Rice, Program Specialist for the Water Bureau.

Each year the event has been very successful, starting with the first Thursday Party at City Hall.  This year the First Thursday Party at City Hall on September 4th, will be followed by First Thursday Art Show at City Hall, September 4th through October 5th.  Throughout the month there will be guest speakers and movies at the Portland Building (see calendar of events).

“Save the Day” Thursday, September 18, 2008 for the Latino/Latina American Heritage Month, at Patton Square Park – N. Interstate and Emerson Street.  We welcome everyone to come and join the Water Bureau and BDS for authentic foods, Cuban, El Salvadorian and Mexican.  Entertainment by Roger Rumba, an expert Salsa dancer and instructor, we will be entertainment by VOZ and Keynote speaker: Jose Martinez.

Signing off for now, but look for pictures and video of the Latino/Latina Celebration 2008 in our blog after the celebration.

I am happy to see attention being given to all Americans, North, South and Central but it would have been nice if someone involved had looked at the poster and corrected the spelling of the name of the country of Colombia.
