City takes lead on long-range urban planning - Printable Version - June 5, 2008 - 0 Comments

Portland Tribune website screenshotThree public forums on the process to develop the Portland Plan will be held this month.

 

The first is a Leadership Summit from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 6, at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 N.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

 

It will feature a keynote address by Svend Auken, first vice president of the Danish parliament, on how a community can achieve its vision for sustainable development over the long term.

 

Two community forums will be held June 14. The first will run from 9 a.m. to noon at Floyd Light Middle School, 10800 S.E. Washington St. (This location is a correction from earlier versions of this story).

The second will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Portland State University’s Smith Ballroom, 1825 S.W. Broadway.

 

The Portland Plan is being drafted to meet state requirements to update the comprehensive plan that sets the zoning throughout the city. But the City Council has decided to draft and update a number of other important planning policies at the same time, including those that govern parking and long-range development in the downtown core.
