On May 3, 2008, BDS participated in the First Annual Base to Butte event sponsored by the Madison South Neighborhood Association. The event happened at Hancock Park, located between NE 90th and Tillamook. It was a friendly event featuring a community fair and a 3.5 miles loop walk.
 
The Bureau of Development Services' McKenzie James and Andy Truong joined the community groups and local businesses to provide information about "what we do" and offered residents an opportunity to ask questions about the bureau's services.  In addition, to reach the under-represented ethnic groups in the neighborhood, we had translated-handouts in Vietnamese, Spanish and Russian.
 
I would like to thank Carter Cumming and Dawn Rasmussen for inviting us to participate in such a wonderful event.  It was a great opportunity to build a stronger relationship between BDS and the Madison South Neighborhood residents.
