Cincodemayo.org website screenshotBDS invites you to visit us at our Cinco De Mayo booth starting May 2nd – May 5th at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park.

The Cinco De Mayo Fiesta Celebration started in 1983 with a small group of volunteers and the Portland Guadalajara Sister City Association (PGSCA) looking to celebrate the newly formed-city relationship with all of the communities around Portland.  The mission of this exciting event is to create a safe event that encourages people of all backgrounds and ages to gather for a healthy dose of culture, entertainment, food and fun.

Historically, Cinco De Mayo is the day that 4,000 Mexican soldiers defeated the French and traitor Mexican army of 8,000 at Puebla, Mexico, 100 miles east of Mexico City on the morning of May 5, 1862.
