Saturday, January 26th, Combination Inspections section Manager, Jeff Eldredge taught an informative class on "How the permitting and inspection processes relate to older, turn-of-the-century homes".
The audience was made up of 50 people, which included homeowners and remodelers. The questions ranged from "If I get a permit for one thing in my house, and my wiring or plumbing was installed in the early 1900's, will I have to change everything?" to the challenges of tying down older homes to the existing foundation when the concrete in the foundation is suspect, at best.
In addition to this Speaker's Bureau request from Architectural Heritage Foundation's Peggy Morretti on this specific topic, we have and will continue to participate in the annual Old House Fair held by the Foundation.
The questions, comments and feedback from the audience left Section Manager Jeff Eldredge "feeling like everyone had a better sense of what it is BDS has to offer them and how important the communication between the customer and our office is to the success of their project".
Thank you Peggy AHC Foundation and Jeff Eldredge for another successful outreach event for the bureau. Look for BDS at this Year Old House Fair!
