To permit or not to permit? - Printable Version - September 10, 2007 - 0 Comments

Residential ConstructionThe attached article (To permit or not to permit?) is a good example of the reasons to obtain a permit for work performed on a residence. Jurisdictions are now trying to find better ways to help people through the permitting process. In Portland we are open on Thursday nights for home owners to come in and talk to us.

They are able to access our extensive records on properties through out the City of Portland and to receive expert help in understanding the permitting process. We are seeing more and more people come in to the permit center to check on the records of properties that they are considering to buy.

Any unpermitted work may then becomes part of the sale negotiation. It is becoming more important to buy homes that are permitted and to permit any new work as a way of maximizing the value of your home.
