The BDS Summer Interns have been wonderful this year and a real asset to the BDS team.  In addition to gaining work experience, they are being mentored and educated by staff.

Recently, summer intern Viktor Palchay expressed his interest in engineering to staff and his plans of enrolling in college as an engineering major this fall.  Viktor had so many questions that he wanted to ask and Jacob Balderas was the right structural engineer to answer them.

Jacob discussed everything from civil engineering, structural engineering’s duties and responsibilities, general structural engineering course requirements, AutoCAD, architecture, the relationship of owner, architect, engineer and builder.  Jacob also provided Viktor with references to further research the engineering field.

Viktor was very excited and thankful for the hands on experience of reading plans and developing an engineering contact.  Jacob extended his expertise to Viktor any time he needs them while completing his successful journey to become one of our engineers of the future.
