On Saturday, June 30th, Electrical Inspector Russ Young and Sr. Plumbing Inspector McKenzie James, set up shop for the first time outside the Mall 205 Home Depot store to answer customers' questions about building codes and providing some "do it yourself" advice. The hours sped by quickly with hundreds of shoppers stopping by BDS' information table. The goal of this event was simple: to provide helpful information to shoppers and spread the word about the benefits of permitting remodeling and construction work. BDS plans to continue developing outreach opportunities at Home Depot and other stores in Portland and to be a resource for customers and employees.

The location and the weekend times are ideal not only for this type of communication but is also very convenient for our citizens. I think this is a very venue for giving good information and positive contact to Portland's citizens. I think it is will bear more good feedback and visibility for BDS than the Kenton firehouse location.
