The City Archives contains records created by or for city government agencies. This does not include birth, death, court, or property records - which are the responsibility of other agencies. The following resources will direct you to these and other commonly requested records that are not held by the City Archives.

Birth and Death Records

If you are looking for birth or death certificates, please contact the State of Oregon at 971-673-1190 or visit their website at http://oregon.gov/DHS/ph/chs/order/faqs.shtml.

Police Records

If you are looking for police records, please contact Portland Police Bureau Records at 503-823-0043.

City Agency Records not stored at the Archives & Records Center

Depending on your request, some of the information you seek may not be stored at the Archives & Records Center. An archivist will refer you to the appropriate agencies.
