SERVICE TO FILM COMPANIES
Administrative Rule Adopted by Bureau Pursuant to Rule-Making
Authority
ARB-ENB-13.13
1. Philosophical Approach:
The facade construction policy serves to guarantee the public safety. It is
anticipated that the role of the Bureau of Buildings will be minimal.
2. Parameters of Involvement:
The Bureau of Buildings is consulted in all cases of facade construction
where temporary structures obstruct the public right-of-way or when the public
will be moving through or under the structures.
3. Procedure:
a. All requests are coordinated through the Bureau of Transportation
Engineering. The Bureau of Buildings serves in a consultant role to the Bureau
of Traffic Management in cases where such consultation is appropriate.
b. Building permits and building permit fees are not required for this
consultation.
c. Permits are only issued following verification by the Film Office of
adequate insurance coverage and indemnity.
4. Timelines:
The Bureau of Transportation Engineering requires three weeks lead time for
the review of construction plans and submission of ordinance to Council. The
Bureau of Buildings consultation will occur within this three week period.
