Rachel Mortimer

Assistant Program Manager Rachel Mortimer was born in Seattle, Washington and first moved to Portland after graduating from high school. She then left to go to school at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana where she majored in history and minored in religion. After college, she lived in Washington DC and Chicago before deciding it was time to return to the Pacific Northwest to attend law school. She graduated from Lewis and Clark Law School in 2004 and passed the bar that summer. She spent the next year as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Maureen McKnight, a Multnomah County Circuit Court judge. Following that, she spent a year as the Assistant Director at the Campaign for Equal Justice, working on behalf of legal aid organizations in Oregon. She then went to work for a small law firm on a public defense contract doing juvenile law, including both child welfare and delinquency cases. She practiced juvenile law for five years before joining IPR in February 2012.
