Ordinance No. 185612

Authorize and direct the Portland Water Bureau to flouridate the City of Portland's public drinking water supply to the optimal levels beneficial to reduce tooth decay and promote good oral health as recommended by the Oregon Health Authority.

 

Status:

9/12/2012 - Portland City Council passes Ordinance No. 185612.

9/12/2012 - Prospective referendum petition filed; Auditor approves signature and cover sheets for circulation.

9/13/2012 - Auditor's Office requested ballot title from City Attorney. Two copies of petition filing forwarded to City Attorney for ballot title preparation.

9/20/2012 - City Attorney delivers ballot title to Auditor. Ballot title challenge period: an elector may file a petition for review of this ballot title in the Multnomah County Circuit Court no later than 5:00 P.M. on Monday, October 1st, 2012.

10/02/2012 - Ballot title challenge filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court.

10/11/2012- Auditor's Office received referendum petition signature sheets; chief petitioners estimate to have collected 43,236 signatures. City Auditor's Office has 30 days to complete verification process and arrange for validation of signatures with Multnomah County.

11/07/12 - Auditor’s Office received statistical sampling reports from the Multnomah County Elections Office. Petition is estimated to have 33,015 valid City of Portland registered voters and therefore qualifies for the ballot.

11/08/12 - Auditor’s Office certified results. According to Portland City Code 2.04.100 A. Council may, within 30 days, or until December 8th, 2012, repeal an ordinance which is the subject of a referendum petition.

12/11/12 - Judge Immergut issues ruling on ballot title challenge

12/20/12 - Portland City Council passes resolution to place Referendum Petition PDX 02 on a special election ballot to be held May 21, 2013.

12/21/12 - Notice of Measure Election (updated) filed with Multnomah County Elections. PDX 02 Referendum certified to May 21, 2013 ballot and given measure number 26-151.

5/21/13 - Voters reject measure 26-151.
