Kari joined the Audit Services staff in 2007, after extensive experience in the Washington State Legislature (Ways and Means and Natural Resources), in fiscal and policy analyst roles. Prior to joining Washington State in 1993, she served in a city government as a research analyst and with a private firm as an environmental planner.
In her role as a Senior Management Auditor in Portland, she has worked as Auditor in Charge on audit projects, and as an team member on others, with significant impact on public services.
She served as Auditor in Charge of the Emergency Management audit that won the Association of Local Government Auditors' 2010 Gold Knighton Award for Best Audit, and she was the Auditor in Charge of the Housing Tax Abatement project that won the 2008 Silver Knighton Award for Best Audit.
Kari holds a master's degree from the University of Washington and a bachelor's degree from Stanford University.
She is Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), and is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Association of Local Government Auditors.
