Applying for a permit

To apply for a permit, please have each carpool member complete and sign one section of the application form. On the form, please designate one carpool member to act as the contact person. Be sure to write in the name of the garage/lot and the monthly parking fee at the top of this application. Mail your completed application and a check or money order payable to City of Portland for the first month's parking to: City of Portland, Carpool Program, 1120 SW Fifth Ave, Room 800, Portland, OR 97204

Eligibility

Payment is due on the 20th of the month previous to when you want to begin. If your application is approved, your first monthly permit will be mailed to you after the 20th of the month. If for some reason your carpool does not meet our program requirements, your check or money order will be returned to you, along with an explanation of why it was not accepted. Some common reasons for a carpool not being issued a permit:

incomplete application materials/missing payment

two-person carpool applying for a 3+ carpool space

lot you are applying for has filled up

Policies & procedures

Carpool membership will be audited periodically to assure that your carpool still meets the eligibility criteria. Each person in your carpool should review the carpool parking policies and procedures. By signing the carpool parking application, each member indicates that he or she understands and agrees to comply with these policies and procedures.

Using your parking permit

When you receive your carpool parking permit, just hang it 2-4" below the rear-view mirror of the vehicle you carpool in. If you plan to use more than one vehicle, be sure the permit hangs in whichever vehicle you are using to avoid being ticketed.

Holders of a current Import Plaza Lot #135 carpool parking permit may park in any available parking spaces.

Renewing your permit

At the same time you receive your first month's parking permit you will also get a permit renewal form. Fill this out and return it in with your next month's payment to continue in the program. Payment is due and must be received by the 20th of the month to ensure your permit will be mailed to you in time. There is a $20 late fee for any renewal received after the due date. Late payments will not be accepted after the 5th of the month of participation.
