North Macadam Transportation Development Strategy Latest News: On Wednesday, April 8, Portland City Council voted unanimously in favor of the North Macadam Transportation Strategy and accompanying TSDC Overlay. Our thanks and appreciation go out to all of the stakeholders and community members whose tireless dedication to this process made the success of this project possible. Lead Agencies Portland Office of Transportation (PDOT) is working in conjunction with Portland Development Commission (PDC).
Project Background Transportation challenges in and around the North Macadam Urban Renewal Area (URA) result from regional and local growth in an already constrained transportation system. To improve future mobility steps must be taken now to create a safe and efficient multi-modal transportation system integrating cars, freight, transit, bicycles, and pedestrians.

Next Steps The next step is to update the city's Transportation System Plan (TSP) and South Waterfront Street Plan to include the projects and priorities of the NMTDS. City staff will continue to work with stakeholders and other local, regional, and state government agencies to refine projects, write grants, and prepare funding packages to implement projects.
