State of the River

The State of the River Report is a comprehensive annual review of the many projects, programs, and partners that are working to implement the City of Portland’s River Renaissance Vision and Strategy. The report is structured to provide information on Accomplishments, Progress Measures, and an Action Agenda.

As a citywide initiative, the River Renaissance represents the efforts of eight City bureaus, and works to identify and incorporate common goals for our river at every available opportunity. The initiative partners with community organizations and local businesses to impact classrooms, boardrooms, and neighborhoods to help make these accomplishments for our river possible.

The report is an important tool to help measure the effectiveness of current efforts, and enhance future investments and activities. It is also intended to celebrate and sustain progress to achieve the River Renaissance Vision and Strategy.

State of the River Report 2006–07

Just as the first two annual reports summarized City of Portland river-related activities, this third State of the River Report highlights accomplishments, progress, and actions slated for the coming year. The Report also profiles a number of river efforts of upstream communities. Portland's River Renaissance Initiative compiles the State of the River Report from information contributed by the eight City Bureaus that comprise the River Renaissance partnership: Environmental Services, Planning, Parks, Transportation, Sustainable Development, Development Services, Water, and the Portland Development Commission.

State of the River Report 2005–06

This second annual report built upon the framework designed for the first report, and provides an important update on the progress being made to implement the City of Portland’s River Renaissance Vision. You may note that the report documentation has shifted from a calendar year to a fiscal year. This change was made to better match the City’s schedule for budgeting and work plan development.

State of the River Report 2005

The 2005 State of the River Report was the first annual report, and represents the first holistic review of City’s collaborative work toward reclaiming the Willamette River as Portland’s centerpiece. The report was thoughtfully designed to convey the complexity of City’s river work in a simple and accessible format. When reviewing new annual reports it may be useful to compare progress measures to this original document.
