BOEC Budget Process

The BOEC Budget Advisory Committee shall utilize the following venues in order to disseminate information to and receive feedback from management, labor, customers, and internal and external stakeholders regarding bureau programs and services. BOEC's budget analyst from the Office of Management and Finance will be invited to attend all budget discussion sessions.

  • BOEC Labor Management Committee (representatives of labor and management from within the bureau, the City, and local bargaining groups)--Meeting will be scheduled in January, 2010
  • User Board (representatives of partner agencies and external stakeholders)--Meeting is scheduled for January 21, 2010.
  • Advisory Board (elected representatives of partner agencies)--Meeting will be scheduled by Commissioner Fritz's Office.
  • Finance Committee (finance representatives of partner agencies)--Meeting will be scheduled in mid-January 2010.
  • Public Outreach Forums (citizen stakeholders)--Forums will be scheduled in mid-January 2010.

These groups will provide a preliminary review of BOEC's budget approach and the development of its Current Appropriation Level target budget and proposed reductions. They will be asked to review and comment on BOEC's:

  • Programs and services
  • Rankings of the programs and services
  • Budget reduction packages
  • Any add packages.

A brief written report will be completed by each group of the discussion covering each of the above topics as well as any comments on BOEC's overall budget. BOEC will address all issues in a way that provides additional information and transparency to both Council and the public and facilitates the ultimate decision process. The written reports will be submitted with the budget submission documents.
