TYPING TEST INSTRUCTIONS

Prior to submitting an application, you must obtain written verification of your typing speed and accuracy. Typing speed must be a net of at least 45 words per minute (using the formula provided on the Verification of Typing Speed Certificate). You may obtain a test at one of the following locations or other offices (most temporary employment agencies), which administer and validate typing tests in your city or state. Please follow the instructions for scheduling your test. Be sure to identify yourself as an applicant for the City of Portland 911 Dispatcher position and bring picture identification. Verification of Typing Speed Certificates dated before September 4th, 2012, will not be accepted. Typing tests administered via an Internet pro­­­gram will not be accepted.   

Please take the Verification of Typing Speed Certificate form with you when you test and submit the completed certificate with your application. If you are applying online, download the form, print it and take it with you.  Please attach your completed Verification of Typing Speed Certificate on the same day you submit your online application.

Helpful Hint - Take the typing test as soon as possible, ensuring that it is completed prior to submitting your application. All applications MUST have valid proof of typing speed. Typing speeds less than 45 words per minutes net will not be accepted. Applications received without valid proof of typing speed will be eliminated at the close of this recruitment.
